First of all I am biased, I love the boutique “Hotel B” It is a small, quaint property that offers a personalized, intimate experience. Positioned on the edge of the water, in a prime snorkeling location the pool is close to the ocean which is alive with vibrant marine life. A huge plus for the water lovers out there, like myself. This hotel features a pool, hot tub, and complimentary bicycles for those looking to explore. Additionally, the rooms are thoughtfully maintained, with clean linens, complimentary toiletries, and cozy balconies where you can enjoy breathtaking sunsets and passing cruise ships.

The property has a small restaurant with limited options, but breakfast is included not to mention varied and tasty. Though walking to Centro is possible, especially if you're in good physical shape, many travelers’s opt for a taxi or renting a Jeep to explore further beyond the cento / San Miguel area.

The biggest con is that Hotel B is not an all-inclusive property, with the food and drink prices relatively high. The rooms are really comforting, complete with stocked refrigerators, quality toiletries, and ample amenities. As with most all-inclusive resorts, you’ll find various dining options, including specialty restaurants like the Fish House, which creates a mariner ambiance with its ship-inspired decor. I ate breakfast here on the last morning. They had the best iced coffee!!!

The stand out for me was the exceptional service. At Melia, they have friendly and attentive staff across the board, ensuring I had a relaxing and enjoyable experience from check in to room upgrades. Numerous activities listed weekly, so guests can choose between active engagement or lounging by the pool or on the beach, depending on their mood.

There was a sandy beach here with lots of beds, though reserve yours immediately when you arrive, they are taken fast. Otherwise there are plenty places to lounge. I was in a room with a balcony that faced the ocean. It was great lounging there.

Melia is an older property, and some rooms show signs of age. The beach, while spacious, was not in its best state during the time of this visit, with murky waters and sargasso affecting the experience. It’s worth noting that this area isn’t ideal for snorkeling due to water conditions. Moreover, the resort is relatively far from Centro, requiring transportation arrangements for guests who wish to explore beyond the property.
