As a solo female traveler, finding a safe, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay is paramount. Playa La Media Hotel in Isla Mujeres exceeded my expectations in every aspect, making my trip not only enjoyable but also memorable. I have personally stayed in all the room categories including the Classic Double room, which was not only cozy and stylish but also equipped with all the essentials. The decor was fresh and inviting, with soft colors that enhanced the feeling of tranquility. The room featured two comfortable beds, a private bathroom, a small balcony or patio area that comes with a couple chairs, a small table and a hammock where I could enjoy my morning coffee while soaking in the ocean breeze.

For couples seeking a romantic getaway, the Honeymoon Suites are a splendid choice. These spacious suites offer stunning ocean views, an outdoor jacuzzi bath big enough for two adults, luxurious amenities, and an intimate atmosphere perfect for celebrating love. Additionally, the hotel provides two apartments, which are ideal for families or groups of friends traveling together. Each apartment is well-furnished with two bedrooms, one with two queen size beds, the other a King size bed, both with ample storage space for your belongings including a safe for valuables. A full kitchen, equipped with all the necessary utensils for cooking and a full size refrigerator, a living area with a couch, chairs and television, and these units also have an outdoor space with a table, chairs and a hammock which provides ample space for relaxation after a day spent exploring the island. I have stayed in all these room types and equally enjoyed them all.

Beach Access and Proximity to Downtown
One of the standout features of Playa La Media Luna is its direct access to the beach. Just a few steps from my room, I found myself on the soft, powdery sands of Isla Mujeres, where I could unwind under the sun or take a refreshing wade in the crystal-clear waters, however keep in mind at this particular beach access to swimming is limited due to the strong currents and undertow, with the exception of certain times of year that you can access the waters, but there is the perfect swimming spot about a 5 minute walk to Playa Norte where swimming is very safe and beautiful. The beach is well-maintained, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas available for guests. This easily accessible beachfront location made it simple to spend my days basking in the Caribbean sun.

Moreover, the hotel is conveniently located just a short walk from the vibrant downtown area, particularly Hidalgo Street. This bustling street is lined with charming shops, local eateries, and lively bars, making it the perfect spot to experience the island's rich culture. As a solo traveler, I felt safe strolling through the area both during the day and in the evening, and I enjoyed indulging in delicious street food and exploring the local artisan markets.
Pools and On-Site Amenities
Playa La Media features three inviting pools, each equipped with comfortable loungers and surrounded by lush tropical landscaping. The main pool is perfect for lounging and socializing, while the quieter pool areas offer a more secluded escape for those seeking tranquility. I found myself alternating between the pools and the beach, enjoying the best of both worlds.

The small bar on-site is another highlight of the hotel. Open during the day, it serves refreshing cocktails, local beers, with one of the best attentive bartenders on the Island, “Franco” or aka “Spaghetti” a wonderful mixologist and just a great guy making it a great spot to unwind after a day of exploration. The friendly staff were always attentive, ensuring I had everything I needed while I relaxed by the poolside.

From the comfortable accommodations to the beautiful beach access and the welcoming atmosphere, it provided a perfect base for my solo adventure.
